After Representative-elect Jen Kiggans masterfully pulled of a historic win in VA-02, it didn’t take long before someone of her caliber stepped up to the plate to fill in her shoes.
That leader is former Navy officer and small business leader Kevin Adams, who is campaigning actively for Kiggans’ old seat in SEN-07:

Adams was a known feature during the Kiggans run, who campaigned for the Representative-elect as if his own name were on the ballot.
Now Adams gets to put that energy to his own use.

Adams’ reasons are running are quite clear, as he expressed in an interview with WAVY 13’s Anne Sparaco:
In an interview with 13News Now Thursday, Adams praised Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s economic policies, while expressing support for law enforcement.
“We got to get this economic machine back on track and our governor has a fantastic plan to do that,” Adams said. “We also want a safe community. We want to make sure the police officers know when they go out to do their job, that we support them.”
Adams said if he were to win, he would work with candidates to support these goals in Richmond, saying, “I got to pick up that seat, so [Republicans] can get a majority in the General Assembly.”
Adams’ opposition in this fight to rebuild Virginia’s economic engine and restore our support for law enforcement is Democrat “defund the police” supporter and Virginia Beach Councilman Aaron Rouse, who is making climate change and criminal justice reform his top priorities.
Kiggans won the seat in SEN-07 by just 600 votes in the previous election. The Virginia Senate lines will be redrawn and races held in new lines in 2023.
Currently the Democratic-controlled chamber is a one seat away from a Republican majority, with 21 Democrats and 19 Republicans. Republican Lieutenant Governor Winsome Sears will break all ties.
