An excellent op-ed from former Virginia Governor George Allen regarding the concert between “useful idiots” and ambitious politicians and well-funded outside pressure groups. From the Richmond Times-Dispatch:
These episodes make clear that ambitious politicians and well-funded activist groups are determined to cast Virginia’s natural resources and manufacturers as enemies of the people and the environment. They are setting up a false choice between manufacturing growth and environmental stewardship.
The fact is, manufacturers have been working successfully for years to reduce their impact on the environment with energy efficiency, recycling, and reductions in carbon emissions. The result is that manufacturing in America is a cleaner endeavor than ever.
