Former Clinton running-mate and Virginia’s incumbent U.S. Senator Tim Kaine officially has another Republican challenger.

Constitutional lawyer Jonathan Emord of Clifton, VA formally announced his campaign for U.S. Senate today, after first forming an exploratory committee back in September of 2022.

A media release issued by Emord’s campaign listed his stances on several of the most prevalent issues facing Virginians – and all Americans –  today including record inflation, education, border security, and vaccine mandates.

Much of Emord’s legal career has focused on combatting federal government overreach, particularly by the FDA.

Outside of his legal work, Emord has penned columns in Townhall, PJ Media, and American Greatness and is the author of several books, including “Restore the Republic” which includes a forward by former U.S. Congressman Ron Paul.

Paul describes Emord “as an expert in constitutional theory and history” and “an expert litigator with a long string of legal victories over the federal bureaucracy.”

On the state level, Emord recently represented Fredericksburg, VA restaurant owner Matt Strickland against the Virginia ABC.

Emord exclusively told The Republican Standard that “Kaine and the far-left threaten everything we hold dear. Our fight to save Virginia and America from socialism and moral decay begins now. Together, we will prevail.”

While forming an exploratory committee, Emord set a goal of “raising $1 million by the end of March 2023” to garner support for his candidacy and formally enter the race. Today’s media release lists a total of $1,100,000 in committed assets, broken down as “$200,000 in cash, over $150,000 in campaign vehicles, and $750,000 in committed funds.”

Emord’s announcement comes less than two weeks after incumbent Democrat Senator Tim Kaine announced his intent to seek re-election in 2024.
