With jockeying for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination already underway, one pro-life conservative is the overwhelming favorite among members of the nation’s largest pro-life activist groups.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was the runaway winner of the Student for Life’s National Pro-Life Summit 2024 presidential straw poll.
“The Pro-Life Movement’s first ‘2024 Presidential Election Straw Poll’ votes are in! After tallying the votes, Students for Life Action determined that Governor Ron DeSantis is the Pro-Life Generation’s number one choice for the 2024 Presidential Election,” Students for Life Action announced in a tweet.
DeSantis took 53.73 percent of the poll’s 2,000 votes. Former President Donald Trump finished second with 19.22 percent.

“The Youth vote is now one-third of the electorate and, for the first Post-Roe Generation, expectations are high that candidates will compete to show their commitment to protecting life in law and in service,” said SFA President Kristan Hawkins.
“Pro-life voters are looking for a passionate defense of mother and child and a commitment to act. A throwaway line in a speech will not cut it with the Pro-Life Generation,” Hawkins added.
Rounding out the field was former Vice President Mike Pence at 7.84 percent, former United States ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley at 1.57 percent, Texas Senator Ted Cruz at 1.37 percent, South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem at 0.98 percent, Texas Governor Greg Abbott: at 0.78 percent, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo at 0.78 percent, Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin at 0.78 percent, former Wyoming Congresswoman Liz Cheney at 0.59 percent, former Maryland Governor Larry Hogan at 0.39 percent and South Carolina Senator Tim Scott at 0.2 percent.
“Undecided” took 6.86 percent and “Other” took 2.75 percent.
