Washington, DC – Culpeper County, VA Sheriff Scott Jenkins journeyed to Washington, DC today to speak at an event hosted by the conservative immigration non-profit Federation For American Immigration Reform (FAIR) about how his county and the entire Commonwealth are being impacted by the Biden Administration’s lack of “operational control” at America’s Southern Border.
Despite the lies being spouted by talking heads in the Biden Administration – including DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayokas – his team has no idea about what is truly happening in border states.
Jenkins has been “a cop for over 32 years,” and a Sheriff for over a decade.
He said that he believes the “government’s first duty is the safety of the citizens”, and because of that “America must realize that every county is a border county now.”
Jenkins – who has been a Sheriff during both Republican and Democrat administrations – said that the issues at the southern border are not “red or blue issues.”
Instead, Jenkins said that it is was one of safety and security for the nation. Just this week, Culpeper’s detectives obtained enough fentanyl “to kill every man, woman, and child in the county.” 2020 Census Bureau statistics place the population of Culpeper County at 51,935.
Virginia receives 3,500 files every week on individuals crossing the border, and that number doesn’t include the ones that come across the border without a trace. Still, Jenkins said that he is the only Sheriff in the entire state that works to comply with ICE through the 287(g) program in which state and local law enforcement officers collaborate with the federal government to enforce federal immigration laws.
His message to Washington? “Do your job, or get out”.
Several weeks ago, Sheriff Jenkins was one of nine Sheriffs in Virginia’s 7th Congressional District who endorsed Republican nominee Yesli Vega in her quest to unseat incumbent Democrat Abigail Spanbeger this November.
Vega is a law enforcement agent herself and has been endorsed by the National Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Council.
In their endorsement earlier this year, the Council said that if elected to Congress, Vega “will fight the Biden Administration’s open borders agenda and work to restore respect for those who put their lives on the line to protect us every day. Supervisor Yesli Vega has earned the full support of the ICE Council through her words, votes, and actions. We are proud to endorse her in her race for Congress in Virginia’s 7th Congressional District.”
