Independent candidate RFK Jr. is reportedly planning to officially drop out of the presidential race, according to new reports. The announcement is expected to be made during a press conference this Friday, where RFK Jr. will likely address his supporters and the media to explain his decision.

This development marks a significant shift in the 2024 race, as RFK Jr. was considered a notable figure with a significant following of between 5-10%.

The implications of his withdrawal could have a ripple effect on the remaining candidates and the overall dynamics of the election. According to surveys, RFK Jr.’s campaign pulled more votes from the Trump campaign than the Harris campaign.

On Tuesday, former President Donald Trump commented on the possibility of the Kennedy campaign teaming up with him to prevent a Kamala Harris presidency, following an admission from Nicole Shanahan, RFK Jr.’s running mate.

CNN first reported that Trump acknowledged he is open to considering RFK Jr. for a role in his administration, on the condition that he withdraws and endorses him.

“He’s a brilliant guy. He’s a very smart guy. I’ve known him for a very long time,” Trump said of Kennedy. “I didn’t know he was thinking about getting out, but if he is thinking about getting out, certainly I’d be open to it.”
