Kiggans Highlights Kitchen Table Issues In Latest Ad

State Senator and VA-02 Republican Nominee Jen Kiggans released a new TV ad today, focusing on kitchen table issues.

Issues highlighted in the video are gas and grocery prices that have increased exponentially due to Joe Biden’s policies – which are backed by her opponent, Democrat incumbent Elaine Luria.

The 30-second spot features Kiggans driving her car,  shopping for groceries and putting them in her trunk, and filling with up gas at the pump.

In the ad, Kiggans says that her economic plan “would immediately help Virginia families by driving inflation down so groceries cost less.”

She also states support for producing “more American-made energy to lower gas prices.”

This November, Kiggans is campaigning to unseat two-term incumbent Democrat Elaine Luria who was first elected in 2018. Luria unseated Republican Scott Taylor that year, and Republicans have been working to win the seat back since then.

They have a solid chance to do so this fall.

The Cook Political Report states that VA-02 leans Republican, with a PVI of R+2 in 2022, up from R+1 in 2021 before redistricting went into effect.

Sabato’s Crystal Ball – curated by University of Virginia Professor Larry Sabato – rates VA-02 a Democratic Toss Up.

Governor Glenn Youngkin stated last weekend while campaigning with two of Virginia’s other congressional nominees – Karina Lipsman and Jim Myles – that he believes the road to a majority in the United States House of Representatives “runs through the Commonwealth of Virginia.”
