Loudoun County Sheriff Mike Chapman Receives National Recognition

Loudoun County’s top cop has been recognized for his work by a national organization.

Sheriff Mike Chapman has received the 2023 Ferris L. Lucas Award from the National Sheriffs’ Association (NSA).

Both of Virginia’s Legislative bodies – The Senate and The House of Delegates – passed resolutions celebrating Chapman’s recognition earlier this month.

Chapman shared the following thoughts on the award via a press release shared by his office Friday.

“I am gratified for this unique honor from the National Sheriffs’ Association, and now from our state legislators in Richmond – Democrats and Republicans alike,” said Sheriff Chapman. “Law enforcement should never be partisan, and for Loudoun County to have the best public safety record in the Washington, DC / Northern Virginia region is a reflection of the hard work and dedication of our LCSO team.”

After serving eleven years in his current role, Sheriff Chapman plans to seek re-election this coming November for a fourth term.
