Sen. James Risch (R-Idaho) isn’t a household name. But the ranking Republican on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee has considerable influence and resources at his disposal. Utilizing those, he and fellow Republicans on the committee, released a new, 65-page report on President Biden’s catastrophic  withdrawal.

The report, “Left Behind: A Brief Assessment of the Biden Administration’s Strategic Failures During the Afghanistan Evacuation” is unsparing in its criticism and comes on the heels of another scandal the White House hopes you don’t notice.

Per the NRSC:

Newly leaked documents from the White House Situation Room the day before Kabul fell have become public and they look horrible for the  and the complicit .

According to the documents, the withdrawal was worse than Americans could have imagined. It was ill-conceived, disorganized and the Biden administration was shamefully unprepared. This sloppy effort led to the deaths of Americans and hundreds of allies trapped behind enemy lines.

In the months since very little has improved. The Taliban is still in control of Afghanistan and there are still allies trapped.

So where is the outrage from Senate Democrats? After 20 years of blood and treasure being spent in Afghanistan, why are they not demanding answers from the administration which gave it all away to the same Islamic extremists who harbored and aided Al-Qaeda?

Vulnerable Senate Democrats like Maggie Hassan, Raphael Warnock, Mark Kelly, Catherine Cortez Masto and Michael Bennet have been silent as the Biden administration tries to brush this stain on our nation’s history under the rug.

Statement from NRSC Spokesman T.W. Arrighi: “The botched withdrawal from Afghanistan exposed the true incompetence of the Biden administration. These new documents expose unwarranted hubris and sloppy planning and execution of a mission that carried with it 20 years of spent American blood and treasure. Meanwhile, the White House’s biggest defenders in the Senate, Sens. Hassan, Warnock, Kelly, Cortez Masto and Bennet seem content with giving the president a pass. This despicable ambivalence should enrage every American.”
