Will the revelations of Loudoun County corruption ever end?

ABC7 WJLA reported Friday morning that taxpayers in Loudoun County have footed the bill for thousands of dollars in luxury international travel for County Board Chair Phyllis Randall and three other county supervisors, and members of their staff.

WJLA uncovered payments for first-class flights and luxury resort stays in remote destinations including China, South Korea, Ghana, and Uruguay.

Juan Pablo Segura – the Republican nominee for Virginia’s 31st Senate District –  condemned the actions of Loudoun County officials via a media release issued by his campaign team Friday afternoon.

“This misuse of taxpayer funds makes it clear that Loudoun County needs a political renewal – we need a new generation of public servants who aren’t in office for personal gain,” Segura said. “That’s how we can restore accountability, transparency, and trust in Loudoun County’s government. Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident of self-enrichment: for example, we’re also seeing county officials working to give themselves raises. I call on all Loudoun County officials and political candidates to join me in condemning this behavior.”

The 31st Senate District encompasses parts of Leesburg, Purcellville, and Warrenton and is widely regarded as a top pickup opportunity for Republicans this November.
