The End of An Error: Northam’s Moving Truck Has Arrived

Virginia’s social media has been on fire with images of Democratic Governor Ralph Northam’s moving truck in front of the Governor’s Mansion this week.

The running joke at Capitol Square in Richmond is that Northam’s black shoe polish and white linens will be loaded last.

Virginia’s Governor’s Mansion has a long and storied history, restored after a fire in 1908 and restored again under First Lady Roxanne Gilmore after the 1997 inaugural ceremonies, where it was noticed that the building itself was shifting ever so slightly due to the presence of revelers.  The mansion itself was approved of during Governor James Monroe’s term in 1811.

Republican Governor-elect Glenn Youngkin will be inaugurated on 15 January at the State Capitol in Richmond.
