Trump Reclaims Lead In National Poll, Virginia Now Within Margin Of Error

In a significant shift, former President Donald Trump has taken the lead in Rasmussen’s latest national survey, edging ahead by a narrow margin. Notably, the poll also reveals Trump trailing within the margin of error in Virginia, a bluish state that has eluded Republican presidential candidates for over two decades. Trump lost Virginia by 10 points in 2020, and no Republican has carried it since 2004.

Rasmussen conducted its Virginia survey between October 24-25, sampling responses from 1,014 likely voters. Results indicate that Vice President Kamala Harris holds 48% of voter support compared to Trump’s 46%, with third-party candidates securing 4% and another 3% of voters remaining undecided.

The Washington Examiner has more on the recent surveys that are trending in Trump’s favor:

“A new telephone and online survey by Rasmussen Reports and American Thinker finds that, if the election were held today, 48% of likely Virginia voters would vote for Vice President Kamala Harris, while 46% would vote for former President Donald Trump. Four percent (4%) say they would vote for some other candidate, while another three percent (3%) are still undecided. In 2020, President Joe Biden beat Trump by a 10-point margin in Virginia,” said the polling outfit in its analysis.

American Thinker Managing Editor Andrea Widburg said, “Voters are unhappy with the status quo and are worried about election integrity.”

Rasmussen also surveyed Texas voters, sponsored by American Thinker, and found that Trump is leading Harris, 50%-44%. In the Texas Senate race, like in Virginia, the incumbent is winning. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) is holding a four-point lead over challenger Rep. Colin Allred, 47%-43%.

The top concerns for voters in both states are the economy, immigration and abortion.

Monday’s findings out of Virginia follow a similar poll from last week, which showed a razor-thin one-point lead for Harris in Virginia. A Washington Post survey released shortly before, however, suggests Harris holds a more comfortable 6-point advantage over Trump.

Trump is planning to hold a rally in Virginia on Saturday, Nov. 2, at 4 p.m. as part of an 11th-hour campaign push. The event will take place at the Salem Civic Center near Roanoke. For ticket information, please check here.
