Voting Line Shutdown In Bucks County Sparks Outrage Before Early Voting Deadline

Bucks County, PA – Bucks County officials reportedly closed a voting line in Doylestown at 2:41 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon, despite Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro’s message earlier in the day that voters in line by 5 p.m. at county election offices should have the opportunity to vote early or apply for a mail-in ballot. The timing has sparked questions and concerns among voting rights activists and political observers, particularly given that the final mail ballot application deadline fell on Tuesday at 5 p.m.

Gov. Shapiro had posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, encouraging residents to secure their mail-in ballots if they met the deadline. In the post, he emphasized that counties are required to allow voters in line by 5 p.m. to apply, even if processing extends beyond the closing hour.

By Tuesday afternoon, Trump campaign representatives also reported that individuals allegedly posing as election officials were attempting to discourage voters from staying in line. According to these accounts, some voters were purportedly told to leave after extended waits, a report echoed by eyewitnesses in Bucks County, who described people wearing what they believed to be fake badges to pose as election staff.

Scott Presler, an activist known for his voter registration efforts across Pennsylvania, addressed the matter on X, urging residents to contact their county commissioners and demand adherence to the policy allowing those in line by the deadline to vote.
