Keeney’s Response to Redistricting

Taylor Keeney, a community leader from Goochland, VA running as a first-time candidate in the 7th district against Rep. Spanberger released a statement early this morning:

“Five months ago, we jumped into the race for Congress in the 7th District recognizing that our district, our country, and Congress had big issues that needed to be fixed. I was motivated to run because I’m a problem solver and Washington, D.C. is in sore need of new conservative leadership and fresh ideas.

“Unfortunately, redistricting did not turn out as we had hoped. Carter and I, and our family, live in Goochland – that’s home. With the final maps issued by the Virginia Supreme Court, Goochland is now in the 5th Congressional District. I am a big believer that you should run where you live. And so, I will not be continuing my campaign for Congress in the 7th District and do not intend to run in the 5th District against Congressman Bob Good. Now, more than ever, it is critical we elect a strong Republican majority to Congress, to retire Speaker Pelosi, and stop President Biden’s radical agenda.

Keeney goes on to say:

“For now, I just want to say thank you. It’s an incredibly humbling experience to run for office, and while I’m disappointed this campaign is coming to an end too soon, I’m not going anywhere; I will continue to serve my community however I can.”
