Democrats’ “Better Deal” Is Nothing New

That giant thud you may have heard Monday wasn’t movers next door dropping a couch.  It was Sen. Chuck Schumer dragging nine other Washington Democrats to a rollout of old Democrat ideas called a “Better Deal.”

When the New York Times shrugs its shoulders at a Democrat campaign platform, you know it’s an eye-roller.

Schumer started out by saying that since 10 elected Democrats traveled a little over an hour to stand next to each other, every Democrat is unified.

“The fact that we’re all standing here today sends a powerful statement: Democrats are unified”

Ten Democrats – all from the few states Hillary Clinton already carried.  That’s unity?  If you can’t get ten Democrats from states Hillary won to agree, you’d be in sad shape.

Schumer even dragged along House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi for some reason.

Anyway, Schumer’s “Better Deal” can’t be confused with FDR’s “New Deal” since there’s not a darn thing in it that’s new.

Schumer says that people don’t know what Democrats stand for, so this plan is their way of telling them.  The only message I see is “Democrats stand for Washington DC.”

And talk about Russian collusion!  There’s more Russian (or Soviet, to be specific) collusion in these ideas than with anyone from Trump’s presidential campaign.

Democrats’ number one issue:  Create a new federal government agency to control prescription prices.

Earth-shattering, isn’t it?

Just the other day, I was talking to some Democrat friends and they told me the one thing America needs is for the federal government should expand and control prescription prices, since the federal government does such a great job with fiscal management and not spending too much money.

No, I really didn’t.  Even they aren’t that insane.

Next, the Democrats’ number two issue:  Expand federal power to crack down on business mergers.

I can’t tell you how many times someone came up to me and said, darn it, I wish I could vote for someone who wanted to really ramp up antitrust powers of the federal government.

I can’t tell you because it never happened.

Democrats’ number three issue:  More money for federal “training programs” for at least 10 million people.

Since the Labor Department issued a report saying that these programs are “largely ineffective,” don’t increase incomes and don’t teach skills employers need or want, I’m not sure how cramming 10 million more people into them is going to be a “better deal.”

More government mandates include Socialist Sanders’ federally-mandated $15 minimum wage plus more paid time off for those who would rather not work.

The funny part is when Schumer started copying Trump campaign promises like Trump’s infrastructure plan and trade reform.  We’ll see how that goes.

But here we are 24 hours after the big rollout and nobody cares.  Not even the “unified Democrats” and MSNBC minions care.  Not only is this platform rehashed old Democrat big-government solutions from decades ago that didn’t work then and won’t work now, it’s not even what voters are clamoring for.

If this is what Schumer and Pelosi think is their ticket to victory in 2018, I actually feel bad for Democrat voters.

Walter Mondale is still alive.  This platform sounds like Schumer wants him to make a comeback.

The Democrats “better deal” with the fact that they are an old party with old ideas.
