Report: Police Recover 68 Pounds of Narcotics In Massive Drug Bust

In a powerful show of coordination and resolve, Virginia State Police—alongside local and federal partners—executed a series of high-impact investigations across the Commonwealth between May 8 and May 14, seizing dozens of illegal firearms, massive quantities of dangerous narcotics, and even multiple explosive devices.

This multi-agency effort highlights not only the scale of criminal threats facing Virginia but also the indispensable role of well-supported, well-equipped law enforcement in keeping our communities safe.

According to Virginia State Police, 32 illegally possessed firearms were recovered over the course of the week, with a total estimated value of $18,000. These weren’t antiques or collectors’ items—they were active weapons, many likely destined for street-level violence, gang activity, or drug-related enforcement. Each weapon taken off the street is a crime potentially prevented, a life possibly saved.

But perhaps even more alarming is the sheer volume of illegal narcotics recovered:

  • 2.92 pounds of cocaine

  • 64 pounds of marijuana

  • 0.3 ounces of crack cocaine

  • 12 ounces of fentanyl

  • 6 ounces of methamphetamine

Combined, these drugs carry a street value of over $463,000—an amount that reflects the growing scale of illicit trafficking within Virginia’s borders. Fentanyl, in particular, is responsible for the majority of overdose deaths in the United States today. Just a few milligrams can be fatal. The 12 ounces recovered here is enough to kill thousands.

These drugs are not homegrown; they’re part of an international supply chain that increasingly flows through a wide-open southern border. Criminal cartels, emboldened by weak federal enforcement and permissive sanctuary policies, are exploiting every opportunity to flood communities—including those right here in Virginia—with poison.

This bust also included the recovery of $76,755 in drug money, likely headed for reinvestment in more trafficking, more firearms, and more violence. Every dollar seized is a financial wound to the networks profiting from addiction and lawlessness.

Perhaps most chilling: three explosive devices were recovered and safely neutralized. Law enforcement has not disclosed details on their construction or intended use, but the fact remains—someone was assembling and storing lethal materials, possibly for use in targeted acts of violence or intimidation. In today’s climate, it’s not hard to imagine the devastation if those devices had been deployed.
