High-Profile Event Sparks Controversy
The “White Dudes for Harris” Zoom call, held on Monday night, was intended to signal broad support for Vice President Kamala Harris with a demographic that leans heavily Republican. Instead, it became the subject of widespread mockery and derision on social media. Critics labeled the event as “cringe,” with one commenter noting, “It’s all about race with you guys.”
Social Media Backlash
The event quickly drew sharp criticism online. One social media user pointed out the irony, saying, “They’ve spent the last 10 years telling us that white dudes are the source of all the world’s problems.” Another sarcastically remarked, “Imagine if Trump started ‘White Dudes for Trump.’ The media would go crazy.” Memes trashing the event flooded social platforms, with remarks like, “This will be the most Beta gathering in history.”

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker also joined the call, criticizing Trump and his allies. Buttigieg and Pritzker’s attempts at humor fell flat, with Pritzker’s cognitive test joke receiving almost no response.
Celebrity Endorsements
Grammy-nominated singer Josh Groban used his time in the spotlight to “lament” the privilege of being a white man but emphasized the importance of supporting Harris. Joseph Gordon-Levitt denounced Trump as a “con man” and reiterated his support for a president who can stand up to such figures.
Sean Astin and Mark Hamill praised Harris’ qualifications and the Biden administration’s legislative successes. “Frozen” actor Josh Gad shared how he cried over his children the night Trump won in 2016 to underscore his support for Harris, while former NSYNC star Lance Bass emphasized the need for white men to engage in the political process.
Fundraising Success and Controversy
During the three-hour call, attendees were urged to donate to Harris’ campaign, raising over $4 million, but it was met with a mix of mockery and confusion.
