Several big names in Republican politics from across Virginia, as well as outside the Commonwealth took the stage in Virginia Beach last night to boost VA-02’s GOP congressional nominee, State Senator Jen Kiggans.
The all-star lineup of speakers at 2022’s final “Rally For Virginia” included the following people:
- Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin
- Virginia Lieutenant Governor Winsome Sears
- Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares
- Former Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell
- Former Virginia Governor and U.S. Senator from Virginia George Allen
- Former House Republican Speaker Newt Gingrich
- House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy
- Republican Party of Virginia Chairman Rich Anderson
All of these Republican leaders came to Virginia, and VA-02 specifically due to the seat being one of the nation’s most anticipated flips of the cycle.
During his speaking part at the rally, McCarthy said that he wanted to be in Virginia tonight – regardless of the other 40 states that he has visited over the past two months because he wanted to spend Election eve with Kiggans.

Last night’s Virginia Beach rally was the final stop in a slate of four total campaign stops made by Governor Youngkin yesterday.
Youngkin, Sears, and Anderson kicked off the day in Northern Virginia, with a GOTV rally held in Alexandria to boost VA-08 nominee Karina Lipsman and VA-11 nominee Jim Myles.

Following the Alexandria rally, Arlington – Falls Church Young Republican Chairman Mike Ambrose shared with The Republican Standard optimism that he felt going into election day today:
“In Northern Virginia and across the commonwealth the GOP has young, diverse, and exciting candidates like Karina Lipsman, Hung Cao, Yesli Vega and Jen Kiggans. All the Democrats have are old incumbents like “Do Nothing Don Beyer” pushing failed far-left policies.”
The Alexandria stop was followed by an afternoon event with Hung Cao in VA-10.
.@HungCaoCongress is going to flip #VA10 and restore American strength in our economy, at our border, in our communities and on the world stage.

Youngkin also held an evening event with VA-07 nominee Yesli Vega prior to heading to Virginia Beach to wrap up a full day on the campaign trail.
We’re on the verge of a historic moment Virginia. We’re about to elect the Commonwealth’s first Latina member of Congress!
