A senior at George Mason University has spoken out against the woke activists trying to cancel Governor Glenn Youngkin’s selection as the school’s Commencement speaker later this Spring.
Joe Szymanski – who currently serves as the chairman of the College Republicans at George Mason University – appeared on Fox 5 last week to share his thoughts on the Governor’s selection to give the address, as well as the pushback that has since ensued on campus.
“To be able to see a Republican Governor come to Mason for the first time in a long time, it is exciting, and I was very excited to hear that.
Szymanski also highlighted the history of Virginia Governors and other notable political figures speaking at the school, regardless of their political party.
I am very excited to see Governor Youngkin speaking at my graduation commencement this May and I am very happy to see Mason admin defend his ability, and everyone’s ability, to come speak on campus. https://t.co/3Asgb28Em3

Szymanski exclusively told The Republican Standard that he appreciates “the administration not backing down and upholding the Governor’s right to come (to campus) and speak after being invited to do so.”
The Republican Standard reported last week that several groups at the school were protesting Youngkin’s selection as GMU’s commencement speaker.
