Bucks County, PA – Bucks County officials reportedly closed a voting line in Doylestown at 2:41 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon, despite Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro’s message earlier in the day that voters in line by 5 p.m. at county election offices should have the opportunity to vote early or apply for a mail-in ballot. The timing has sparked questions and concerns among voting rights activists and political observers, particularly given that the final mail ballot application deadline fell on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
Gov. Shapiro had posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, encouraging residents to secure their mail-in ballots if they met the deadline. In the post, he emphasized that counties are required to allow voters in line by 5 p.m. to apply, even if processing extends beyond the closing hour.
What are you doing about this @GovernorShapiro?
This is Bucks County Emergency Services shutting down the line in Doylestown right now at ~2:30 PM. This is suppressive and intimidating. https://t.co/EUKsZYh5Me pic.twitter.com/m9noqX7MQD — James Blair (@JamesBlairUSA) October 29, 2024
Conservative activist Charlie Kirk urged voters nationwide, particularly in Pennsylvania, to remain peacefully vigilant. The call followed multiple reports of alleged voter suppression incidents and confusion across the state, particularly in Bucks County, where some individuals reported seeing supposed election officials instructing voters to leave polling lines.

By Tuesday afternoon, Trump campaign representatives also reported that individuals allegedly posing as election officials were attempting to discourage voters from staying in line. According to these accounts, some voters were purportedly told to leave after extended waits, a report echoed by eyewitnesses in Bucks County, who described people wearing what they believed to be fake badges to pose as election staff.
Scott Presler, an activist known for his voter registration efforts across Pennsylvania, addressed the matter on X, urging residents to contact their county commissioners and demand adherence to the policy allowing those in line by the deadline to vote.
‼️ ⚠️URGENT⚠️ ‼️ Pennsylvania, if you are voting today, ➡️STAY IN LINE⬅️ Also, contact your county commissioners & demand they announce a policy that anyone in line should be able to vote today. You just make your voices heard. ➡️Contact your commissioners NOW⬅️ pic.twitter.com/OyaNPlFPCX
