From farm bills to criminal justice reform, to government shutdowns and young conservative justices, the weeks before Trump’s “Lame Duck” session will be dominated by leadership shake ups, confirming a new attorney general, and the last chance for Republicans to pass funding for the southern border wall.
The results from Virginia’s 2018 midterm elections show the regional divide that has negatively affected Republicans over the past few election cycles. The biggest factor in this race was the divide between suburban and rural voters.

During his hour and a half press conference this morning at the White House, President Trump was asked by reporters if there would be any personnel changes coming soon within his administration. He responded by explaining that personnel changes after a midterm election are quite common, but gave no answer as to who would be leaving.
In a press conference fraught with arguments with the White House press corps, President Trump downplayed Democratic gains in the House and in gubernatorial races throughout the country, while stating quite categorically, “Nancy Pelosi deserves the speakership.”
Virginians voted in races for Senate, Congress, a House of Delegates special election, a slew of local races, and two constitutional amendments on Tuesday, November 6. The results from tonight’s election will be updated following returns from the Virginia Department of Elections.
Virginia’s Tenth Congressional District, a race featuring Republican Congresswoman Barbara Comstock and Democratic challenger Jennifer Wexton, is one of the areas being monitored. A list of jurisdictions from the DOJ includes many races that are pivotal battlegrounds in at least six Senate races and even more races that may decide the balance of power in the House of Representatives.
Polls opened up at 6:00 a.m. this morning and will close at 7:00 p.m. Those who are standing in line at a polling area at 7:00 p.m. will be allowed to vote. One can find their polling place at the Virginia Department of Elections website.
