Top House Republican Lawmaker Calls For Democratic AG Mark Herring’s Resignation

In 2013, Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring (D) said that he would not be “a part-time Attorney General and would resign should he decide to seek higher office.” Following his announcement to become a Democratic gubernatorial candidate in 2021, Majority Leader Todd Gilbert (R-Shenandoah) of the House of Delegates has called for the Commonwealth’s chief lawyer to “immediately make good on his pledge to resign his office.”
