Some were concerned that if Republicans lost their stake in Congress during the midterm elections, chaotic progressives would seek to engage in a myriad of politically-motivated committee investigations in the effort to thwart President Donald Trump, his administration officials, and even the newly-installed Associate Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. Now that Democrats have reclaimed the majority in the House of Representatives, that rumor may be unfolding into a reality after a Democratic lawmaker recently said that the party may be moving towards impeachment proceedings for Trump and Kavanaugh. .
Congressman Jerry Nadler (NY-10) said according to a report from the Conservative Tribune that there is an effort to remove Trump’s pick from the Supreme Court “through further investigation of the uncorroborated allegations against him,” that were brought forth during his now-infamous Senate confirmation hearing.
Nadler, who is also set to rise to the position of chairman of the House Judiciary Committee in next year’s Congress, was overheard on a train from New York City to Washington, speaking of launching chaos-causing investigations at conservatives in power.
“Fox News contributor Mollie Hemingway of The Federalist just so happened to be sitting within earshot of Nadler on the Acela train from New York City to Washington D.C. on Wednesday while he chatted on his phone about the election results and plans for the next two years with various callers.”
Congressman Nadler claims that “there’s a real indication that Kavanaugh committed perjury” during his testimony to the Senate Judiciary Committee, however those claims have been debunked by federal investigators. So far, Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA) has referred four people to federal authorities to be investigated for making false claims against the high court nominee.
When it comes to President Trump, Hemmingway overheard Nadler explaining to one caller that his committee would be “all in” on an impeachment effort against the president that would be branded and framed in a more public-friendly way of holding the him “accountable.” Regardless, the efforts would be predicated on the long-awaited findings from White House Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election.
