Hung Cao Enters Race To Replace Tim Kaine In 2024

Virginia Republicans will have another name to pick from when choosing their preferred candidate to face off against Tim Kaine next year.

Hung Cao, the former 2022 GOP nominee in the 10th Congressional District announced Tuesday his intent to seek the office of U.S. Senate in 2024.

He released the following video on Twitter to launch to his campaign.

Cao joins a crowded field that includes the likes of constitutional litigator, author, and columnist Jonathan Emord, former Club For Growth Vice President Scott Parkinson, Army veteran and businessman Eddie Garcia, and lawyer Gwen Hickman.

In 2022, Cao was unable to unseat incumbent U.S. Representative Jennifer Wexton, ending up with 46.7% of the vote on election day to Wexton’s 53.2%.

Inside Elections rates the 2024 Virginia Senate election as a “battleground” race.
