It was an announcement that most Virginia Republicans were expecting.
Disruptor Capital CEO and former New Media Strategies chief Pete Snyder — whose impressive dark horse bid for lieutenant governor nearly captured the GOP nod in 2013 — has finally made it official with a positive and hopeful introduction to the race.
Snyder hasn’t been sleeping over the last eight years. As a former RPV Victory Chairman and consistent GOP donor, Snyder also helped kickstart the Virginia 30 Day fund at the beginning of the COVID pandemic, raising over $35 million dollars and helping 2,500 save over 20,000 jobs.
…and did we mention his side gig as a world championship certified BBQ judge?
Snyder enters an increasingly crowded field for the GOP nod for governor, but with a unique brand of his own that appeals to conservatives worn down by the previous eight years, Snyder has the ability to self-fund and carry the fight straight into the teeth of the Democrats.
Snyder’s Big Ideas
Snyder is focusing on three short-term goal with long-term implications: reopening Virginia’s public schools, saving and jumpstarting small businesses, and the more vaguely put “restore and respect our freedoms” — which might sound like a cagey way of a return to dignity and normalcy, but one that works for the sole reason that it’s a vision for the future.
In short, Snyder’s focus is on education, economy, and making Virginia safe for entrepreneurship again. Sounds like a great plan.
