Well…she’s back again. This time Hillary Clinton stars at the Grammys.
Although this year’s Grammy Awards featured Bruno Mars and his Album of the Year Award for his “24K Magic” record, the star spotlight was put on former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton for her surprise cameo at the awards ceremony. In a report from Fox News, President Trump’s cheeseburger affliction was the highlight of the night after Clinton read excerpts from Michael Wolff’s controversial book Fire and Fury.
The night was littered with non-traditional sketches during the music awards ceremony. It seems now that the Grammy Awards is a political showcase for those disgruntled with Republicans and President Trump. This year’s Grammys was also the lowest-rated in history.
Grammy Awards host James Corden featured a parody sketch from notable anti-Trump celebrity performers who “auditioned” for the show which included Cardi B, Snoop Dogg, John Legend, and Cher. The pre-taped section of the Grammys featured the cameos from the notable few and showed who might take home next year’s “spoken word award,” according to the host.
The Trump bashing ensued when Clinton, who lost in an electoral landslide to Trump in 2016, read from the book about the president’s eating habits. “One reason why he liked to eat at McDonald’s: Nobody knew he was coming and the food was safely pre-made,” she read.
The Sunday night stint featuring the controversial cameo star caused some to change the channel for a less scripted program. Donald Trump Jr. took to Twitter and said:
“Getting to read a #fakenews book excerpt at the Grammys seems like a great consolation prize for losing the presidency. #GrammyAwards”
As well, President Trump’s U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley opined on Twitter to show her disgust with the political tactic, saying:
“I have always loved the Grammys but to have artists read the Fire and Fury book killed it. Don’t ruin great music with trash. Some of us love music without the politics thrown in it.”
“We know that our current president does love winning awards and the good news is he may just be the subject of next year’s winner [for Best Spoken Word Album],” Corden announced during the video. Clinton then asked Corden after her reading from the book, “The Grammy’s in the bag?” He replied, “In the bag!”
Grammy Executive Producer Ken Ehrlich told reporters after the show that getting Clinton to appear in the skit “wasn’t tough.” Ehrlich also stated that he was aware the section was getting some backlash. However, he told bystanders backstage that, “We stand by what we did.”
The cameo stint by Clinton shows people that she still does not accept the results of the 2016 presidential election. Going on two years, she has continuously blamed Russians, women, Facebook, Obama, Biden, Macedonian hackers, as well as dozen of other reasons for her loss in 2016. It is quite unfortunate that a former presidential candidate cannot let the results sink in and let the country move on like countless others have in the past.
