“It has been one of the highest honors of my life to serve the citizens of the Commonwealth. I want to thank the citizens of Virginia Beach and Norfolk for giving me that privilege,” Wagner said.
After 18 years in the Virginia General Assembly, Republican State Senator Bill Carrico announced his retirement, saying he has been “thankful” to serve Southwest Virginia.
The move from the Virginia General Assembly comes after a 20 percent increase in highway work zone deaths in 2017 and over 2,600 crashes in those areas.
