Hung Cao advances to another general election with Tuesday’s win in the Republican Primary for U.S. Senate.
Decision Desk called the race for Cao at 7:13 PM, mere minutes after polls closed.
Governor Glenn Youngkin was one of the first Virginia leaders to celebrate Cao’s win, tweeting out a congratulatory graphic which included an endorsement.
Cao’s campaign issued the following statement when the election was called:
“Tonight, CAPT Hung Cao USN (Ret.) decisively won the Republican primary for U.S. Senate in Virginia and will take on Tim Kaine in November.Cao, a Vietnam refugee and a veteran who spent 25 years in the U.S. Navy, released the following statement:”Thank you Virginia! For our win to coincide with the date of Joe Biden’s amnesty for illegal immigrants highlights the stakes of this November’s election. For women like Laken Riley and Rachel Morin, the Biden-Kaine open border policy was literally a matter of life and death.” Hung went on to say, “Tomorrow, we begin our campaign to save the country that saved my life. I spent twenty-five years in the Navy, while Tim Kaine spent thirty years in elected office. The taxpayers signed the front of our paychecks for the same amount of time. The difference is this: Tim Kaine got rich, and I got scars. Tim Kaine has already placed $2 million in television advertising for the fall, where he will pollute the airwaves with lies about me, but also about him. This campaign is as much about the things each man will NOT do. No matter what Tim Kaine and his super PACs say, I will not vote for any federal ban on abortion and I will always protect Americans on Social Security and Medicare, Americans like my Mom. And likewise, no matter what Tim Kaine and his super PACs say, Kaine will not secure our border or deport the illegal immigrants that should have never been in this country. President Trump and I will win in November, we will secure the border, we will protect Social Security, and we will save America. I spent twenty-five years fighting for this country, and I’m not done.”
